Protecting Yourself Against Fraud

A few tips to protect yourself against fraud or identity theft:

Never give out your personal information over the phone (ex. ssn, date of birth, credit card #, bank account information) unless you have initiated the contact and have confirmed the business or person's identity.

Never send money or give out personal information such as credit card numbers and expiration dates, bank account numbers, dates of birth, or social security numbers to unfamiliar companies or unknown persons.

Do not share your online banking information with others.

Be cautious of phone calls that "offer" a vacation, free gift or prize.
